What is print design?
Print design is design that has to survive a press. That means the right trim and bleed, 300 dpi at final scale, CMYK rather than screen colour, type converted to curves, and a file your printer can open. I build to your printer's spec sheet, so artwork goes through on the first attempt.

How it runs.

Spec
Printer's spec sheet first: trim, bleed, resolution, colour profile, outline preference.

Layout
Hierarchy set for reading distance — a standee is read from three metres, a flyer from thirty centimetres.

Preflight
Bleed, minimum text size, rich blacks, overprint and image resolution checked.

Press
Files sent with a summary the printer can act on, and a proof reviewed before the run.

06FAQ
Common questions.
What is bleed and why does my printer keep asking for it?
Bleed is 3mm of artwork extended past the trim line. Guillotines drift by a millimetre or two; without bleed that drift shows as a white sliver along the edge. Anything that touches the edge of the page needs it.
Why convert type to curves?
So the press cannot substitute your font. Once type is outlined, the shapes are fixed — critical for Urdu and Arabic, where a substitution does not just look wrong, it can change the letterforms.
Can you work from my printer's template?
Yes, and I prefer it. Send the template and spec sheet at the start and the artwork will drop straight in.
